What’s Next?: Lessons Learned and Recommendations from Anti-Racism Professional Development Sessions (Union Staff and Senior Leaders Edition)

A 90-minute interactive session where she unpacks lessons learned from anti-racism professional development sessions. During this session, participants will review a planning and implementation template. They will also discuss facilitator reflections on what worked, areas for improvement, and recommendations for next steps.

In this session, participants will have the opportunity to share their insights, engage in self-reflection activities, and complete a learning assessment.

Participants will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of the various approaches to delivering anti-racism professional development sessions that enhance adult learner outcomes.
  • Receive anti-racism professional development tips and a planning template.
  • Leave with practical knowledge about various strategies to use when planning and delivering anti-racism professional development sessions to diverse groups of staff, including those with direct lived experiences of racism and staff who find anti-racism education challenging.

Lawyering Using an Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Lens- An Introduction (Labour-side Lawyers Edition)

A 90-minute virtual instructor-led session that provides lawyers with an overview of how to integrate an anti-racism and anti-oppression lens into their day-to-day practice. During this session, the instructor will draw on current and emerging issues raised by Black, Indigenous, Racialized, and historically marginalized union members, as well as insights gathered from conversations with labour relations officers and lawyers. In this session, the instructor will apply an intersectional, trauma-aware ARAO lens to real-life scenarios, including addressing member concerns, interviewing styles, credibility assessments, and preparing to discuss intersectional race-based complaints or grievances.
